Our Story Started in Nebraska

Our founding attorney, James Harris, began practicing law because he wanted to help the average American worker. Too many times, he heard stories of injured people trying to fight insurance companies and big businesses, with nowhere left to turn. In fact, one of those stories was that of Mr. Harris's great grandfather, who was killed in a work injury on the railroad in McCook, Nebraska. His great grandfather's wife and children received little compensation and struggled for many years — so much that their descendants still tell their story today.

Nebraska Supreme Court Cases

Our law firm's founding attorney represented average American workers in two important Supreme Court cases in Nebraska that helped set the bar for future workers' compensation lawsuits:

  • Richard E. Cox vs. Fagen Inc. and St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company:
This ruling held that employees can recover workers' compensation benefits even if the injuries are sustained during the course of every day work activities. Otherwise known as the "Nebraska coveralls case."
  • Michael Worline vs. ABB/Alstom Power Integrated CE Services:
This ruling held that workers can receive compensation for disabling conditions, such as depression, caused by physical injuries on the job.
